Health Services and Medical Insurance

Health care in the U.S. can be very expensive. Therefore, a student must have adequate medical insurance. IEP fees include a fee that allows students to use the services of the on-campus Student Health Center for common illnesses and routine health problems, frequently at no additional cost. MU has a special low-cost medical insurance policy for international students. This insurance covers services at the Student Health Center that are not covered by the Student Health Center fee. It also covers services not provided by the Student Health Center, such as hospitalization, surgery or complex medical treatment resulting from a serious illness or accident. MU requires all international students to purchase this policy at the time of registration. A student may also buy insurance for any family members (husband, wife, or a child) who are in the U.S. Students who have scholarships from their government may ask at MU’s International Center that the scholarship's insurance policy be accepted in place of MU's policy.

For more information about health services, visit the Student Health Center site. For more information about MU’s low-cost medical insurance policy for international students, visit the student insurance page of the Student Health Center site.
